Hello, my name is Holly and I am a proud Occupational Hygienist.

People often ask me what I do for a living, when I tell them that I am an occupational hygienist they do one of two things:

1.     they smile and nod their head pretending to know what a hygienist does; or

2.     they continue on with the conversation, acknowledging they haven’t heard of the profession before and ask “what’s that”?

There certainly is no simple way of describing the occupational hygiene profession, I have tried to refine it over many years and typically tell people“occupational hygienists specialise in managing risks that cause people to get sick at work”.

To really understand what a Hygienist does so you can appreciate why our profession is so important, really requires us to show you.  Hence this#younghygienist blog.

This blog aims to showcase #occupationalhygiene as a career to promote the profession so we can be successful in #protectingworkerhealth.

I also was a young hygienist once. And late last century a few of us started a YAHOH group (Young At Heart Occupational Hygienists) because we wanted to get young hygienists together. But we were concerned that we were rapidly sliding out of the “Young” category ……….
Loving your blogs – had a great tiem showing all of my team the Famous Vomiting Larry
